The business premises are the former buildings of the “Relais des Diligences”, which belonged to the Auberge des Maritonnes in Romanèche-Thorins.
The Prieuré Saint Romain area was an important rest stop on the Paris-Lyon route.
Travelers were dropped off at Les Maritonnes.
Coachmen would then bring their carriages to the Relais des Diligences for a break.
Gabriel PIN bought these premises in 1950.
They were used for mixed farming until 1968, when René PIN decided to devote himself exclusively to vine growing.
The large premises were transformed into a vat room and cellar.
In 1982, René PIN registered the name “Domaine du Prieuré Saint Romain”.
René’s son Bruno has been running the estate since 2003.
The vines are planted with grass, and the vines are treated in a way that respects the terroir and the environment as much as possible.
The grapes are harvested by hand.
The cuvage and cellar (cement and stainless steel vats) are thermo-regulated vat by vat.
Fleurie is vinified using the traditional Beaujolais method.
